Payment QR Reader

See exactly what a payment QR contains — and whether it has been tampered with.

Fonepay, NEPALPAY, eSewa, Khalti or a bank standee. The image never leaves your browser.

About this tool

Upload a photo of any payment QR and see everything encoded inside it: which networks it can be paid through, the merchant name and city your app will show, whether an amount is fixed, and whether the code's own checksum verifies. A failing checksum means the code has been altered or misread since it was issued — useful before paying against an unfamiliar standee.

What the checksum tells you. Every EMVCo payment code ends with a checksum covering everything before it. If it verifies, the code has not been altered or misread since it was issued. If it does not, either the photo was read badly or the contents were edited after issue — and a sticker placed over a real standee is a known way of redirecting payments.

What it does not tell you. A valid checksum says nothing about who owns the account. Anyone can produce a correctly formed code for their own account. The name and city fields shown above are what your app will display while paying, so the check that matters is whether they match the business in front of you.

Nothing you upload here is sent anywhere. The code is read from the image and decoded inside your browser.
