You explain, the model finds the gaps — the Feynman technique with a critic.
Prompt
I'm going to explain {{topic}} in my own words. Your job is to find where my understanding is weak.
My explanation:
{{my_explanation}}
Tell me:
1. What I got right
2. What I got wrong — and what the correct version is
3. Where I used a term without really explaining it (a sign I don't fully understand it)
4. What I skipped entirely
5. One question I wouldn't be able to answer given this explanation
Be direct. A gentle assessment is useless to me.Fill these in
Replace each highlighted variable before sending. Leaving them in place is the most common reason these prompts under-perform.
| Variable | What to put | Example |
|---|---|---|
{{topic}} | What you're learning | How RAG works |
{{my_explanation}} | Your own explanation | Write it from memory first |
Tips for better output
- Write your explanation from memory, without checking notes. That's the point.
- Point 3 is the sharpest diagnostic — hiding behind jargon is the classic sign of a gap.
